Let’s Get Physical

I’m going to be participating in Wendy Nielsen’s “Let’s Get Physical Challenge”!  You may know that I tried to compete in her first challenge, “I Will Rock This.”  I did not rock it. But this time will be different!

It’s Time: Let’s Get Physical

It’s time.  Time to get physical.
Let's Get Physical!

A few months ago I participated in Wendy Nielsen’s “I Will Rock This” workout challenge.  I made a lot of positive changes in my eating that I am still sticking with today.  I started juicing, I am now a full-fledged runner, and I have cut so many processed food out of not just my own diet, but my whole family’s.  I consider that amazing progress.

The only problem with that last challenge?  I didn’t place.  Nor did I come close to placing.  I was okay with it at the time, but not now.  I am in a place where I want to push myself.  The kids are in a school routine, which will actually make it easier to fit my time in.  I will have to do a lot to get it all done, but it’s going to be AWESOME.

There’s another reason I’m doing this.   We can blame it on my Dad.  Yup, Daddy, it’s all your fault (he never reads my blog, so I’ll crack up if he reads this).  We were talking this summer and he made an off-the-cuff comment that resonated with me.  I can’t remember what the topic of conversation was, but it was something about physical activity, working out, and the like.  He said, “Well, none of you girls {I’m one of three girls} were ever very athletic.” I immediately begged to differ, referring to the handful of 5Ks I’ve run, and also that time before I met my husband when I had a {very hot} personal trainer named Eli.  Here, check me out {and the three cute dogs that used to live with me & my roomies}:

This is probably around 2003.  I was darn athletic.  I want to get back to this, if not even better shape.  I’ve got the same hair again, just need to work on the bod.  :-)   So thanks, Daddy.  This athletic girl is rarin’ to go!

My goals this time around in the “Let’s Get Physical” challenge are different.  They are bigger.  They are more challenging to achieve.  The fact that I even HAVE goals is a good thing.

I’m still sticking to my guns on one thing, though:

I will have coffee and creamer.

It’s just something I won’t give up.  The world is a significantly better place when I’ve had my cup of coffee, and my children will be happier, too, believe me.  Aside from the coffee, though, anything is fair game.

I’ll share more about my plans, share photos, and even more as I progress through the next 8 weeks.  And to my fellow participants (all 50 of you- wowzas!) be warned:

I mean business this time.  For reals.

But wait!  There’s more!

I have a favor.  Yes, I’m asking for your help.  I give you permission, whether it’s on my Facebook page or if we’re friends on Facebook, please please please check in on me.   Ask me how it’s going.  What I’m doing.  Have I worked out?  Am I sticking to my food plan (I refuse to call it a diet)?  If I know that people will be checking in on me, I am more likely to stick with this.  And it’s going to be HARD.  It’s going to suck at some point, I’m sure.  I need to power through, and if I know I’m going to be held accountable… I’m way more likely to stick with it.  So thanks.  In advance.  Yup.  I need you.

Two other totally rad things about this challenge:  I’m competing against someone in my own FAMILY…. AND…. a friend of mine is also in the challenge.  A friend I really like.   A lot.  :-)  We actually have a triple date planned in a few weeks- THAT will be interesting.  I can just see us eyeing each other throughout dinner.  Ha!
Laters!
